X-Men Origins: Wolverine & Other Summer Movie Fair
I'm very excited about the upcoming movies set to be released this summer. WATCHMEN came, I saw, and I blogged about it. I still love the comic, but my faith in book/comic to movie translations has begun to wane.
While, I am very excited about a few movies, X-Men Origins Wolverine isn't one of them.
I have not seen the movie. I have read many fans blogs and I have watched the trailers. If the trailers can't inspire adrenaline and excitment, that's a bit scary.
What worries me about the Wolverine movie is the number of characters. What once started as a fierce, smart, franchise, X-Men has become as redundant and bloated as the Batman films after the second Tim Burton installment. While I haven't seen all of the movies, let's just say from what I have seen, it appears Fox has fallen victim to the same condition that plagued Batman movies 3 and 4. Let's shove as many characters into the movie whether they are revelant or not. Greed is a terrible thing and it appears to have ruined the WOLVERINE movie.
What has me more revving for the summer movie craze?
One word: Trek.
I won't lie to you. I was worried when I saw that Abrams had taken over the reigns of my favorite franchise. Trek more than Potter, Twilight, Star Wars, hell, any other show/movie, "Trek" has been my #1.
There's always something about your first time, and Trek was my first taste of sf. It is the measure from which all other shows/movies have been judged.
So come May 8th, I expect to be wowed, inspired, and happy.
I am excited to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and a few others. I expect a lot of my summer blockbuster movies. Let's see if they stand up to my expectations. :-)
Feel free to post your expectations too.
Best,
Nicole Kurtz

I've got some friends in LA who got to see a special screening of Wolverine and totally loved it. They thought the special effects and writing was good. I think that fans will be happy with it. Also, who doesn't want to see Hugh Jackman naked. Apparently there's a nude seen but his goods are hidden well. :)

Jax,
I know! Some other friends of mine said it worked, but the group of fans I hang out with are grumbling about it. I think I'll wait to see it on DVD. I'm going to go see STAR TREK opening night. :-)
Thank you for posting.
Best,
Nicole
